Brian began his career in 1983 as a staff newspaper photographer. His photojournalism was recognized with numerous awards from the NC Press Association and the Associated Press. His coverage during this period was diverse, including spot news, local features and sports to the documentation of war torn children during the Sandinista / Contra conflict in Nicaragua.

In the 1990s, after being selected as a Rotary exchange student to Venezuela, Brian focused his cameras on news, public relations, advertising and product photography. He has covered an array of national stories including the Branch Davidian conflict in Waco, TX, Oklahoma City Bombing, the student shootings at Columbine High School and the tragedy of Jon Benet Ramsey and OJ Simpson.
